We have been clients of Dr Binford for over 25 years and have nothing but praise for him and his staff for caring for each of our dogs, from labradors, miniature schnauzers and most recently for our beloved shih tzus. Every member of his staff over the years has been friendly, courteous and loving to our pets. Dr Binford has always made himself available for an urgent visit and was thorough in his evaluations and explanations. Most recently we had to put our 15 year old baby Shih Tzu, Tara, down due to systemic muscle wasting . deafness and nearly blind. She was always a tiny little thing at 8-9 pounds but recently had lost weight rapidly and was weak, weighing only 5,8 pounds. Dr B examined her, did lab work and determined she had a systemic disease, probably a lymphatic type cancer with lung involvement, causing her to have to work hard at breathing and using her abdominal muscles to breathe. We decided together with Dr B it was time to let her go. We took her home for the grand kids to say a good bye and after a week of progressive deterioration we brought her in to be put down. We were in a private room, staff brought in a thick warm fuzzy blanket for Tara and Dr B gave her a sedative and then put her down. She was relaxed and comfortable. My wife, myself and our 4 year old Shih Tzu, Beau, were allowed to stay with her til she was down and we could grieve in private for as long as we needed. We said our goodbyes and thanked all as we could see tears in the eyes of the staff who had been fond of Tara. We made arrangements for her cremation and received a heartfelt sympathy card from the clinic with signatures of all the staff and Dr B with a personal note of sympathy. The whole process truly helped us in our time of sorrow and we appreciate every one there for their years of love and kindness and respect. Thank you Dr Binford and your tremendous staff.
