Veterinarian Overview
Doctor Melissa Butts, referred to as Missy by all who know her, lives with her husband Larry and their two kids, Gary 7 and Dane 6. Missy has an assortment of pets consisting of 2 dogs, 4 cats, 3 guinea pigs, fish, a bearded dragon, and recently adopted a parrot (great, one more thing that talks back). Do you think she loves animals? Missy has been in the veterinary field for over 20 years and carries with her a wealth of knowledge and experience. She acquired these attributes from various working environments such as Berkeley Springs Animal Hospital (first job as a new vet), Moorefield Animal Hospital (owned and operated by her), Valley Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Winchester (Chief of Staff), Big Spring Animal Hospital and Inwood Animal Center (yes, she is one of ours), and Banfield Pet Hospital (Medical Director for the Northeast Region). Missy received the Make The Difference Award for Line Leadership while employed at Banfield. This award is presented by Mars Inc. to associates who have made positive impacts through outstanding line management or team leadership, demonstration of the Five Principles and delivery of great results through people. In addition, she was voted Medical Director of the Year 2013 by her peers. Missy has decided to return to us part- time, as she misses the personal bonds that are created between the vet, the pet, and the pet owner. This is her passion and the reason she became a veterinarian.
