Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Cricket Russillo joined Virginia Equine Imaging in June of 2015. After graduating from the Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2001, Dr. Russillo completed a one-year Internship in Large Animal Medicine and Surgery at the Texas A & M College of Veterinary Medicine. It was during her time in Texas that Cricket realized her passion for equine lameness and started a career path focused on the elite sport horse. For 13 years, Cricket was a Senior Associate Veterinarian at Fairfield Equine Associates in Newtown,CT. During that time Cricket cultivated a practice focused on the top level show jumper and dressage horse. She enjoys solving the puzzle that a challenging lameness can present, as well as the satisfaction of helping a sport horse reach its peak performance. Like her fellow colleagues at VEI, Cricket uses the highest quality diagnostic imaging and most innovative techniques, such as ultrasound guided injections and regenerative medicine, to provide her patients with the highest level of care. She is a member of the International Society for Equine Locomotor Pathology, and hopes to attain Certification next year. Dr. Russillo relocates to Florida during the winter months to care for her patients competing in Wellington. She has served as USEF Team Veterinarian for both Show Jumping and Dressage on many occasions, and worked alongside Dr. Allen at the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games where she served as Primary After-Hours Treating Veterinarian. In addition to her busy schedule of sports medicine, Cricket enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and 4 year old daughter. She has competed through 3rd Level in Dressage and loves to play tennis. She and her family are excited to be a part of the VEI team and love living in Northern Virginia.
