Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Greg Piske has always been drawn to medicine and animals, which is what led him to pursue a career in veterinary medicine in the early ï70s. He earned his DVM from the University of Tennessee in 1980 and became a veterinarian at Colony Animal Hospital in 1983. With his 30+ years of experiences in the field, he loves experiencing the human/animal bond and all of the emotions and quirks that come with it. He also enjoys being in a position that allows him to improve the quality of life, both for pets and their owners.
In addition to his training at the University of Tennessee, Dr. Piske regularly completes continuing education courses in surgery and internal medicine. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP), which means he is a boarded specialist in canine and feline medicineone of only 13 in the state. Additionally, he is involved in several veterinary organizations to include membership in the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), as well as the local and state associations. To earn the status of an ABVP Diplomate, Dr. Piske underwent a long, challenging three-year process of additional studies and examination to acquire board certification by the American Veterinary Medical Association. This decision proves his exceptional knowledge and expertise in various animal species. In addition to being a diplomate, he is a Charter Member of Veterinary Management Group 5 (VMG 5).
Dr. Piske is married to Jane, who is the practice coordinator and co-owner of Colony Animal Hospital. Together, they have two adult sons and are also proud pet parents of an Airedale named Moe, a Skye terrier named Teddy, a Scottie named Sam, and a cat named Oliver. He is also a koi hobbyist. When he's not at the hospital, he spends his free time outdoors, woodworking, and gardening.
