Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Elizabeth Goldsmith was born in Washington, D.C. and grew up in McLean. Her family was clients of ODAHC when she was growing up. Dr. Goldsmith became interested in veterinary medicine because she liked the idea of helping families by helping their pets. She enjoys problem-solving and the challenge of figuring out what is wrong and she likes fixing things with surgery when she can. Dr. Goldsmith decided to become a veterinarian half way through college, so her last 2 years were heavily science-based. Between college and vet school, she worked in a research facility for 1 year to gain laboratory experience. She now primarily works with people and their petsthere is lots of one-on-one communication with pet owners in person and on the telephone. Dr. Goldsmith handles wellness exams/preventative medicine, as well as internal medicine, soft tissue surgery and dentistry. Dr. Goldsmiths husband is also a small animal veterinarian and they live in Great Falls, Virginia. She has a daughter, a son, and a stepdaughter. The Goldsmiths enjoy traveling, spending time on the Northern Neck, and visiting with friends. They have 3 cats and 3 birds. Dr. Goldsmith loves gardening, reading, trying new restaurants, and Mad Men, and she is active in her childrens school and in their synagogue.
