Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Goldsmith and I purchased Great Falls Animal Hospital in 1982 from Dr. Edward Michelitch.
I enjoy treating all species of small animals from reptiles, small mammals (pocket pets) and birds to dogs and cats. I have owned many types of these pets over the years. My wife, Ruth, and I currently enjoy the company of two Labs, Diesel and Sunny, our cat named Bob; and an Amazon Parrot named Buddy.
I have two daughters, Erin, who is working in China, and Katherine who is attending George Mason University.
In my spare time I enjoy boating, hiking, fishing, photography, gardening and traveling. I also play the trombone, guitar and harmonica.
My professional memberships include the American Veterinary Medical Association, Virginia Veterinary Medical Association, Northern Virginia Veterinary Medical Association, Association of Avian Veterinarians, and the DC Academy of Veterinary Medicine. I have spoken before many schools and groups in the Northern Virginia area. I am an active volunteer at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter.
My veterinary interests include medical diagnostic cases as well as surgery. I balance these disciplines with management of the hospital facility and staff.
