Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Rush has had a love of animals since she was a little girl, spending her free time on her familys farm in Oklahoma. She has been employed in veterinary hospitals since she was 17 and has worked as a kennel technician, receptionist, and veterinary assistant. After high school, she began pursuing her goal to become a veterinarian by attending Oklahoma State University, majoring in zoology. After graduating from OSU in 2001, she practiced in Oklahoma for several years before moving to Austin. Although it was hard to leave Austin, the lure of practice ownership and moving closer to family brought her to the Clear Lake area. She purchased Brown Animal Clinic from Dr. Brown in 2012 when he retired and changed the name to Advanced Pet Care. Her specialties include soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and complex internal medicine cases. To stay current on the latest trends in veterinary medicine, Dr. Rush is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Association of Feline Practitioners, Galveston County Veterinary Medical Association, Harris County Veterinary Medical Association, and the Texas Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Rush and her husband, Brian, have a son and a daughter who share their love of animals. They live with a boxer mix named Wally that they adopted from the Great Dane Rescue of Southeast Texas. In her free time, she enjoys going to Crossfit and traveling. She is also an avid reader.
