Veterinarian Overview

Dr. Jennifer Wiley was the first full-time, board-certified oncologist to settle in San Antonio. At four years old, Dr. Wiley lost her mother to breast cancer, the first of many personal experiences leading to her interest in oncology. During her first year in veterinary school, she was diagnosed with a benign breast tumor, and during her residency, she was diagnosed with the BRCA1 mutation, a genetic mutation that significantly increases her risk of breast and ovarian cancer. Dr. Wiley elected prophylactic surgery to reduce her risk of cancer. While a resident, Dr. Wiley was able to participate in a program that provided treatment for local shelter dogs with mammary tumors. Their treatment and tumors were used in many different research studies to further our knowledge of cancer in both dogs and women. Dr. Wiley’s experiences have helped her better understand cancer itself and the emotional and physical stress that pets and their families endure. This helps to strengthen her client relationships and bring a steadfast compassion into her practice. Education Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine-Oncology Residency, Oncology, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia Internship, Small Animal Medicine & Surgery, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign

Dr Wiley was the calm in the storm. I fully expected that when I first saw her that there would be no help available for my cat. Jennifer gave me hope, we went through treatment and I was able to get the much needed extra time with my kitty because of the care provided by Dr Wiley. Her personal journey into her specialty is amazing and exemplifies the type of person she is! I came her searching for her information to contact her on another pet of mine having issues. This pets issues might not be related to oncology but there is not another person in the specialty field that I would reach out to for guidance on which specialty to go to. Hope to talk to you soon Dr Wiley!!

Dr. Wiley takes time to talk with her clients in order to provide the best care possible for one's pet. She listens, explains and goes out of her way to help. Have had two pups treated by this veterinarian and highly recommend her.
