Veterinarian Overview
After completing a bachelor's degree at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, he went on to receive his DVM from Kansas State University (1999), graduating with honors on both occasions. Following graduation from veterinary school, he completed a one-year internship at the Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center, then worked in general practice in Tomball, Texas enjoying a nearly 11-year career. Dr. Sherwood then went on to complete a three-year surgical residency at the Kansas State University Veterinary Health Center with completion of this dual program in 2014. During his residency, he completed a Master of Science degree with a clinical prospective study evaluating dextrose prolotherapy for treatment of osteoarthritis in dogs. Dr. Sherwood completed his surgical residency and began working at VCA Oso Creek in August 2014. He then achieved board certification and Diplomate status with the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) in 2016. Dr. Sherwood particularly enjoys the challenges of orthopedic surgery and sports medicine in canine athletes. He has a special interest in both internal and external fixation of fractures, cranial cruciate ligament disease, tibial plateau leveling osteotomy, neurosurgery, and minimally invasive orthopedics.
