Veterinarian Overview
Rene Rubio, DVM, graduated from ITSON in Sonora, Mexico and completed his veterinary residency at Oklahoma State University. Go Pokes! Licensed in the State of Texas, Dr. Rubio sees the family dogs and cats and has years of clinic and emergency experience. It was during these years that he realized the great need for home veterinary care. Many clients were unable to get their pets to a vets office or the emergency room and would search desperately for help. If they could get there, he could see the stress caused by waiting with sick or hurt, nervous and scared pets -and many times with several children in tow! It was at that time he began to see clients in their homes and began to realize how much he enjoyed the relationships and trust built as a result of the home environment. The families were relaxed and the pets were much more comfortable, even many of the pets that were friendly at home but would morph into vet clinic maniacs! Over the years as he began to see more and more house calls at nights and on weekends, the need for a full service clinic became apparent. So it is with great satisfaction that he is able to now offer a full range veterinary services to his wonderful clientele at home with the addition of a new 26 foot custom veterinary mobile clinic. Doc, as he is affectionately known by his clients, is fluent in Spanish, enjoys wood carving, fishing, camping, and his favorite of all is spending time with any one of his five children. A great cook, he is known for making an addictive salsa and awesome Ceviche! He and his wife Kelley have been married for almost twenty five years and have two fish, a handsome golden retriever named Max and a beautiful white rescue German Shepherd named Nike.
