Veterinarian Overview
A native Kansan, Dr. Alex Betzen grew up in the Kansas City area. Dr. Betzen received a B.S. in Biology with a minor in Leadership Studies from Kansas State University before starting veterinary school. While in veterinary school at Kansas State, he developed an interest in exotics, both companion and zoo. He was recognized for excellence in exotic animal medicine, proficiency in small animal medicine and surgery and compassion in handling clinical patients during his senior year in veterinary school. His special interests include emergency medicine, exotic animal medicine, and nutritional management of disease. Dr. Betzen completed a one-year rotating small animal internship at a busy referral and emergency practice in San Diego, CA, and while he was sad to leave such beautiful weather, he is very excited to be a part of the Westbury team.Dr. Betsen is a member of the AVMA, TVMA, AAHA, AAZV and HCVMA. Dr. Betzen is an avid road cyclist, enjoys spending time with his dog, Hank, and loves the great outdoors. He and his wife are also enthusiastic movie buffs.
