Veterinarian Overview
Ashley Champagne, DVM graduated magna cum laude and with honors from the University of New Orleans with a bachelors degree in biopsychology and biology in 1998. In 2002, she graduated from Louisiana State University near the top of the class which fulfilled a life-long dream of becoming a veterinarian. Since very early childhood, Dr. Champagne has owned and cared for many dogs, cats, small mammals such as rabbits and guinea pigs, small birds and reptiles. She practiced veterinary medicine in Florida and Louisiana before moving to Texas in 2006. She has been practicing medicine at Carrollton West Pet Hospital since that time.Dr. Champagnes veterinary interests include dermatology, soft tissue surgery, preventative medicine and internal medicine for all the species that she cares for. She also takes a special interest in small mammals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, rodents and ferrets. She is married to an animal lover and has one son. She and her family currently share their house with two rescue dogs, a cat, a degu, three tortoises, a small snake and several aquariums.Dr. Champagne works closely with several rescue agencies such as Texas Rustlers Small Mammal Rescue, North Texas Rabbit Sanctuary, Lone Star Labrador Rescue and several others. She also enjoys working with the unique needs of pets that have been rehomed or rescued from shelters. She believes that pets are part of the family and feels that the human animal bond is a special part of veterinary medicine as a whole
