Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Weicht was born and raised in upstate New York. His family was transferred to Texas in 1976. Following his lifelong passion to pursue a career as a veterinarian, he graduated with the Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine Degree from Texas A & M University in 1983. During his tenure at ñAggieland,î Dr. Weicht served as the President of his veterinary class. Immediately upon graduation, Dr. Weicht returned to Bedford and accepted a position as staff veterinarian at Brown Trail Animal Hospital. He had worked extensively at this practice both as a pre-vet student and throughout veterinary school. Dr. Weicht ultimately purchased Brown Trail Animal Hospital and has been the sole owner since 1994.Dr. Weicht enjoys all aspects of small animal practice but is especially fond of complex internal medicine cases, reconstructive knee surgery and endocrine cases. Continuing education has always been important to him, and he strives to keep abreast of the latest advances in medicine and technology. Dr. Weicht received extensive pain management training through the international Veterinary Academy of Pain Management (IVAPM), with a focus on laser therapy and acupuncture.In 1990, Dr. Weicht served as President of the Tarrant County Veterinary Medical Association. In 1996, he was elected President of the Texas Academy of Veterinary Practice. Dr. Weicht has received various honors and awards including Eagle Scout, WhoÍs Who in Veterinary Medicine, and Science and Hills Veterinary Student Awards.He is currently on the Board of Directors for the Fort Worth Tarrant County Animal Foundation.
