Veterinarian Overview
April M. Haynes, DVM, Diplomate ACVS is a board-certified Veterinary Surgeon at MedVet Dayton where she joined the surgery team in 2017. Dr. Haynes attended Rochester Institute of Technology where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree and The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Following her graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Haynes completed a yearlong internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Hollywood Animal Hospital, a yearlong internship in small animal surgery at Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center, and a three-year residency in small animal surgery at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Haynes worked in a private veterinary practice in Cincinnati prior to working at the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she was an Associate Clinical Professor for four years. Dr. Haynes has become a leader and well-known figure in the veterinary community. She is the author and co-author of several bodies of written work, which include topics of kinematics, tracheal collapse, and diseases of the spleen, and she has been published in a variety of veterinary publications. She is also an active advocate of continued education for veterinary professionals and has lectured nationally on small animal surgery. Dr. Haynes maintains an interest in all aspects of small animal surgery, with a particular passion for facial reconstruction surgery. Other areas of interest include intervention for tracheal collapse, laparoscopy, ureteral surgery and wound management. Dr. Haynes appreciates and enjoys the challenge of improving a beloved pets quality of life.
