Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Ian Voelzel is from Austin and graduated from Texas A&M Universitys College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. From 2002 to 2003, he did a small animal rotating internship at Oklahoma State College of Veterinary Medicine. From 2003 to 2004, he did a small animal surgical internship at Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center, and from 2004 to 2005, he was an instructor of elective surgery at Washington State College of Veterinary Medicine. He joined our team as a veterinarian in 2007 but began his relationship with the hospital as a Westlake High School student, working in our boarding kennel. Being a veterinarian has been his calling for as long as he can remember, and he has been driven by his desire to extend the joy that people receive from the bond they have with their pets. His special interests include orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, minimally invasive surgery, and critical care. He enjoys life with his family and his black Lab, Rio; his yellow Lab, Tucker; and his Chihuahua, CB. Anywhere in the great outdoorshunting, fishing, or at a college football gameis where you will find Dr. Voelzel when he isnt caring for your pets. He believes that Westlakes cooperative approach to medicine amongst doctors, staff, and specialists allows us to offer high quality, advanced medical care to our patients.
