Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Bruce Teachout graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University in 1974. He started his veterinary career in Yankton in May 1974 bringing an emphasis on companion animal medicine into a General Practice. Bruce and his wife Nancy share their home with rescue cat Addy, show dog Sancho and companion, hunting partner Rasta. They have three grown children who live in the Midwest with the youngest son following his father's footsteps in veterinary medicine graduating from Iowa State. Dr. Teachout is a past President of the South Dakota Veterinary Medical Association, present President of the SD Veterinary Medical Association Scholarship Foundation and has been named SD Veterinarian of the year. He has also served on the South Dakota Veterinary Medical Exam Board. Dr. Teachout and Nancy support the community of Yankton with their involvement with Riverboat Days, Red Cross, Lewis & Clark Shrine Club, Yankton Sertoma Club, Questers, National Field Archery Center and other endeavors when a helping hand is needed.
