Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Jan Greathouse grew up in Fenton, Missouri, a small town south of St. Louis. Her parents bred collies and her first pet was a large male named Tiger, who seemed much larger than young Jan. She went to college in Minnesota on scholarship, where she excelled in Biology and met her husband, Tom. Jan earned a Masters degree in Zoology at Montana State University and worked on several research projects before deciding to go back to school to become a veterinarinarian. She graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Wisconsin in 1989. Dr. Jan began her veterinary career at the State Street Dog & Cat Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 1994, Dr. Jan moved to Summerville when her husband became a professor at the Medical University of South Carolina. She joined Drs. Glen and Susan Haynes at Westbury Veterinary Clinic as an associate veterinarian, and has been serving Summerville pets ever since. When not at work, Dr. Jan enjoys playing tennis, gardening, spending time with friends, and skiing. Her family also includes one son, two cats, and three dogs (that's her dog, Rufus, in the photo).
