Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Mark Richards received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New Hampshire in 1978. After completing his undergraduate studies, Dr. Richards worked as a district sales manager for a Wisconsin based bovine artificial insemination company. In 1982, he returned to academia where he earned a Master's from Clemson University in 1984 and a PhD in Reproductive Physiology from Oklahoma State in 1987. Dr. Richards then decided to further his education by becoming a veterinarian. He attended Oklahoma State College of Veterinary Medicine and earned a doctorate in veterinary medicine in 1991.After completing veterinary school, Dr. Richards moved to New York to practice in a rural mixed animal veterinary service. In 1992, Dr. Richards returned to New Hampshire where he worked at Statham Veterinary Practice and later Northside Animal Hospital. In the NH Seacoast area, he established an excellent reputation as a diagnostician and laser surgeon. In 1996, after several years of planning, he purchased Greenland Animal Hospital, which he and his wife Sara grew into a well respected small animal veterinary center. Dr. Richards owned and operated GAH until his retirement in 2012.Dr. Richards is a former collegiate lacrosse player, avid ice hockey player, and golfer. He spends his free time on the links and riding his Indian motorcycle. Sara is a dental hygienist and former licensed Veterinary Technician. They have two grown children, Sarah and Josh, and two now indoor (former barn) cats, Ping and Athena. Dr. Richards' areas of interest are General Medicine, Surgery and Laser Therapy, Complementary Medicine, and Dermatology.
