Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Reines grew up in Boston, Massachusetts and was allergic to cats and dogs. After two years of shots, he took his love of animals to the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he majored in zoology as a preveterinary student. He attended Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. After practicing for several years, he won a postdoctoral fellowship in immunology at the U.S. National Institutes of Health. In 2009, he was trained for a full year in stem cell biology at the University of Pittsburgh, McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine. His main interest is in understanding how pets' diseases change with the season and the environment inside and outside the home. He has new ideas on how best to treat arthritis, allergies, feline urinary problems, and unusual hard-to-figure-out cases. He also enjoys seeing guinea pigs, rabbits, reptiles, and exotic pets.An adjunct professor of bioinformatics at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School, Dr. Reines uses evidence-based medicine to ensure that your pet receives the most appropriate care. Dr. Reines is a published science writer and advisor to a well-known Vietnam veterans support organization.
