Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Donald Sankey VMD moved to the region in 1969, growing up locally in Factoryville, Pa., and graduating in 1976 from Lackawanna Trail High School. He received an undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree at Gettysburg College in 1980 and then went on to obtain his veterinary degree in 1986 from the University of Pennsylvania. He has practiced for the last 26 years in Pennsylvania and California. His experiences in that time include 9 years as an emergency and critical care doctor along with 17 years as a general practitioner in medicine and surgery in hospitals located in both states including several in Northeast Pennsylvania.Currently, Dr. Sankeys primary interests at West Side Veterinary Hospital include soft tissue surgery, abdominal ultrasound and internal medicine cases. In addition to his medical interests, he is a proud new parent of Freya, a 4 month old Australian Shepherd, that will no doubt be making some appearances around the hospital soon!
