Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Currao attended Trinity College in Hartford, Conneticut where she completed her Bachelors of Biology in 2003. She then went on to attend Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, Tufts University, North Grafton, MA and received her Doctoral Veterinary Medicine degree in 2007. In July 2007, she began a one-year Small Animal rotating internship with an emphasis in surgery at The Animal Medical Center, New York, NY. After spending one year as a surgical intern at the Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center in Dallas Texas, Dr. Currao returned to Manhattan in 2009 to complete a three-year Small Animal Surgical Residency. She is the recipient of many awards and honors. Dr. Currao joined the VREC family in August, 2012. Her primary surgical interests are general soft tissue including wound management, oncologic procedures, and laproscopy, and general orthopaedics including arthroscopy. Her research and publications involve vascular thrombi, radical maxillectomies, hydraulic urethral occluders, laproscopy vs. laparotomy biopsies, and abdominal septic effusion. Dr. Currao is a member of American Veterinary Medical Association.
