Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Sally Haddock is the owner of St. Marks Veterinary Hospital. A native of Ohio, Dr. Haddock received her Bachelor's degree in Zoology from Miami University (Ohio) and in 1980, her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the Ohio State University. Prior to opening St. Marks Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Haddock was selected for a one year internship followed by a two-year medical residency at the Animal Medical Center located in New York City. Dr. Haddock has numerous veterinary interests. Special interests include laser surgery and avian (bird) and exotic animal medicine. Even with her busy practice, Dr. Haddock finds time for hobbies. She enjoys downhill skiing, biking, scuba diving, and gardening. Dr. Haddock is married to Tom Birchard, owner of Veselka Restaurant, a Ukrainian/American restaurant located down the block from St. Marks Veterinary Hospital. Together they are parents to 3 children; Kristen, Todd, and Sara. Dr. Haddock's family also includes 2 pets: Fonzi, a Bernese Mountain Dog; and Barley, a yellow lab from Guiding Eyes for the Blind Dr. Haddock is one of a few select veterinarians who have received the Merit Award, and in April 2003, the Outstanding Service Award from the Veterinary Medical Association of New York City. Dr. Sally Haddock's book, "The Making of A Woman Vet," describes the rigors of veterinary college and the trials and triumphs of veterinary practice.
