Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Katherine Gerber, originally from Ocala, Florida, grew up with horses and a pet donkey. She attended Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Government and Spanish with Latin Honors. After completing her undergraduate education, Dr. Gerber relocated to the Upper West Side of Manhattan and began her career dedicated to helping animals. During this time she worked as Assistant Hospital Supervisor for the Wildlife Conservation Society at the Bronx Zoo and as a Veterinary Assistant in a small animal hospital. Dr. Gerber received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University in North Grafton, Massachusetts in June 2017. She then moved back to New York to complete a one-year Rotating Internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at the Veterinary Emergency and Referral Group in Brooklyn. Dr. Gerber joined our team as an Associate Veterinarian in August 2018. Her areas of special interests ??include ophthalmology and emergency/critical care. During her free time, Dr. Gerber enjoys running in Prospect Park, playing guitar, throwing pottery, and spending time at home with her two sibling cats, Claude and Lola.
