Veterinarian Overview
Angela N. Martin, DVM was born in the Bronx and always dreamed of being a veterinarian. From the time she was a child, she participated in programs at the Bronx Zoo and worked at small animal hospitals to pursue her interest. She attended the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University where she majored in Animal Science and graduated with her B.S. in 1999. She was thrilled to be admitted as a junior to the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University and graduated with her DVM in 2002. While in veterinary school, she received the James Gordon Bennett Prize, an award for excellence in anesthesia and pain management. She is also USDA APHIS Certified, which means she can write international health certificates for pets who need to travel. Since graduation, Dr. Martin has gained valuable experience in general practice as well as in emergency medicine and surgery. She founded Island Veterinary Group in 2010 with her friend and colleague, Dr. Jaime Wiener. Providing exceptional veterinary care in the animalsÂ’ homes has been incredibly rewarding. She looks forward to being able to serve even more pets as Island Veterinary Group opens a brick and mortar animal hospital. Dr. Martin is a member of the Long Island Veterinary Medical Association, the New York Veterinary Medical Society, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Association of Feline Practitioners. She is also a proud supporter of the Cornell Feline Health Center.
