Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Tyson-Pellos love for veterinary medicine began at a young age as she grew up with caimans, parrots, dogs, cats and turtles. Dr. Tyson-Pello is from Pennsauken, NJ and graduated from Rutger's Cook College in 2003. She received her master's at Drexel University's School of Medicine in 2006. Following graduation from The University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School in 2011, she continued at Penn Vet as a focused Exotics Intern. She plans to continue her work with exotics and is preparing for avian board certification. Dr. Tyson-Pello has a certification in animal behavior and training, with a focus in avian behavior. Dr. Tyson-Pello works with birds on common problems such as biting and feather destructive behavior. Dr. Tyson-Pello has a publication in the Veterinary Clinics of North America: Exotic Animal Practice and lectured at Penn Vet. She continues teaching students on rotation and volunteers daily. Currently, Dr. Pello is a board member for Freedom Center for Wildlife and is the veterinarian for Hawk Mountain Sanctuary. She has experience with a wide range of species, her main interests are avian, reptile and wildlife medicine. At home, Dr Tyson-Pello and her kids have 3 loving cats, 2 adorable cockatiels, an ornate box turtle, and a ball python. They enjoy outdoor activities, the Jersey Shore, sports and the arts.
