Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Philip Cohen achieved his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. He re-located to New York City and completed an internship at the Animal Medical Center. Following this, he went on to complete his neurology residency at The Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island to become a board certified veterinary neurologist. He developed a passion for animals and science at a young age, inspired by his childhood pet, Maggie who underwent emergency surgery following a severe incident with a motor vehicle. Dr. Cohen finds the best part of being a veterinary neurologist is seeing patients go from not being able to walk on their own to complete ambulatory status after performing a back surgery (hemilaminectomy). Dr. Cohen is the proud recipient of the Novartis Surgical Excellence Award and Scholarship, the Senior Veterinary Student Outstanding Patient Care Award and is a member of the Phi Zeta Veterinary Honor Society. He shares his home with his wife Stephanie and 2 pets, Teddy and Elliot. He enjoys basketball, bowling and other outdoor activities.
