Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Kathleen Stryeski is the owner and primary veterinarian of Deerwood Animal Hospital, which opened in September 2015. She also owns and operates Windsong Pet Healing in Pennington. Dr. Stryeski earned her Master's degree in Microbiology from East Tennessee State University in 1978 after completing her undergraduate studies at Tusculum College. She then attended the University of Tennessee's College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1981. In 1994 she established Cream Ridge Pet Care Center. She practiced veterinary medicine and surgery there until the practice was sold in 2012. Two years later, Dr. Stryeski decided to advance her knowledge of veterinary medicine by attending Chi Veterinary Institute in Florida. There she studied Chinese Herbal Medicine, Food Therapy, Tui-na Pet Massage and Acupuncture. She earned her certifications as a veterinary herbalist, food therapist, and acupuncturist. Her veterinary interests today are centered on providing the best medical care for companion pets. Dr. Stryeski is a member of the American Veterinary Association, American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Association of Veterinary Acupuncture. She is Chair of the Upper Freehold Township Board of Health and a founder and Trustee of the Siberian Husky Health Foundation. Fittingly, her one dog is a rescued Siberian Husky named Ruby. For many years, Dr. Stryeski was active in the dog show community and completed the championships of eight Siberian Huskies. One of her dogs was one of the top ten Siberians in the AKC yearly rankings. Dr. Stryeski says her interest in animals and how they function began at a young age. "My father was an animal nutritionist for the American Cyanamid Company, so I always had a gerbil or guinea pig as a pet," she says. "(I've) loved biology my entire life." In her spare time, Dr. Stryeski enjoys baking dog cookies, gardening, and reading
