Veterinarian Overview

Dr. Pamela M. Mark has been interested in veterinary medicine since the age of 6, when she turned every doll house she owned into a barn with plastic animals. She was raised in East Windsor, New Jersey, and is a 1976 graduate of The Peddie School. She spent her undergraduate years at The Johns Hopkins University, majoring in natural science. The following year, she entered the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School, graduating in 1984. She has worked throughout New Jersey as a veterinarian, including at New Jersey race tracks as an equine regulatory veterinarian. She has known her colleague, Dr. Petranto, since 1986, having worked at the same small animal practice as new graduates. She later worked as a relief vet for Dr. P at Twin Rivers Animal Hospital. Most recently, Dr. Mark practiced for five years at St. Georges Veterinary Hospital in Woodbridge, New Jersey. She is thrilled to be practicing “back home” serving clients near her childhood home and her farm in Millstone Township. Dr. Mark’s small animal interests include internal medicine, dermatology and infectious/zoological disease. Because she considers continuing education programs essential to furthering her abilities as a practitioner, she attends the NAVC/NJ AVMA conference every year and local meetings at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital. Her practice philosophy emphasizes customized medicine tailored to the client/pet lifestyle and financial capabilities. Treatment options are reviewed with owners. She stresses preventative medicine with wellness blood profiles and nutritional evaluation. Dr. Mark is bilingual and has numerous Spanish-speaking clients. She makes her home at Lavender Hill Farm, where she oversees her horses. She has bred and raised thoroughbred race horses and maintains a prolific flock of egg laying hens. Her egg and vegetable stand serves the local residents as well as others as far as New York City. The collie breed was a great inspiration for her chosen career, and she currently has two males, Murphy IV and Kerry. Dr. Mark has adopted numerous spayed barn cats as well. When not involved with her dog and cat patients, she loves working on her farm house landscape which echoes her favorite color purple. She can also be found in her organic vegetable garden or in her kitchen creating a new pastry to indulge her cake decorating skills. Her food interests spawned a pet food pantry and she equally participates in her church’s human food pantry.
