Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Ellen Levitian was originally born in Russia and came to the US at the age of 5 years old. At a young age, Ellen developed a passion for horses and knew she wanted to pursue veterinary medicine as a future career. She grew up riding at a local riding stable in NJ and then went on to compete her horse Franky in local hunter/jumper shows. Ellen went on to do her undergraduate education at Rutgers University where she was also an avid member and leader on the Rutgers University Equestrian Team. Ellen began volunteering at B.W. Furlong and Associates throughout her undergraduate years and went on to work as a full time technician for several years prior to veterinary school. She moved to an island named St. Kitts where she received her veterinary degree at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and did her clinical year at North Carolina State. After graduating in 2013, she completed a one year internship at Brazos Valley Equine Hospital in Stephenville, Texas. Prior to joining the Furlongs team she worked at a private practice in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania. Her interests include emergency medicine, gastroenterology, neonatology, and ophthalmology. She is very excited to be back in NJ working for the practice and seeing a lot of familiar faces! In her spare time, Ellen enjoys spending time with her friends, family, her cat Morgan Mufasa, her new horse Franzia, as well as reading, traveling, pool and beach lounging and exploring new foods.
