Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Jay Volinski started out working as a veterinary assistant during high school and his early college years. He graduated from Bowdoin College in 2000 with a BA in Neuroscience and Biochemistry. He then went on to work as a technician in a biomedical research lab at Harvard Medical School for three years before deciding to switch back to the veterinary profession. After receiving his DVM from the University of Minnesota in 2007, Dr. Volinski completed an internship at Michigan State University in 2008. For the next 3 ½ years he worked as an emergency veterinarian at Port City Veterinary Referral Hospital in Portsmouth, NH, before joining the REVH team in August of 2012. Dr. Volinski is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the New Hampshire Veterinary Medical Association (NHVMA), and the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society (VECCS). He shares his home with two cats. In his spare time he enjoys travelling, outdoor activities such as hiking, downhill skiing, nature photography, amateur astronomy, and searching beaches and tidepools for shells and small creatures. He is an avid Red Sox fan and used to enjoy watching them.
