Veterinarian Overview
Dr Jim Herrmann graduated from Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biological Sciences in 1996, with honors from the Phi Zeta Veterinary Medicine Society. He enjoys complex surgical problems and relishes seeking the cause, then treating a patient's lameness. He continually strives to advance his surgical skills with ongoing training through the American College of Veterinary Surgeons Symposium, the Kyon Symposium, and is a member of the Veterinary Orthpedic Society. He is an avid reader of current veterinary scientific literature, and emphasizes evidence based medicine in his daily practice.Prior to attending veterinary college, Dr Herrmann served six years in the US Army as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (Bomb Squad) Technician. The problem solving and hand skills required on the bomb squad translate well to veterinary medicine and surgery, although this must be considered an unusual approach to a career as a veterinarian! In his spare time Dr Herrmann may be found climbing mountains, particularly ski mountaineering. He plays hockey in local adult leagues, enjoys bicycling and backpacking. He loves to spend time with his wife and their family of furry creatures, and together they enjoy canine agility with their younger generation of rescue dogs.
