Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Dutton grew up in Maine and moved to New Hampshire after graduation. Early in his veterinary career he worked as a veterinarian for Bensons Animal Park in Hudson, NH. In 1992, he started the Weare Animal Hospital, a AAHA accredited Dog, Cat, and Exotics full service Hospital. As exotic pets became a larger part of the practice, he started the Exotic and Bird Specialty Clinic of NH. Dr. Dutton has an Masters of Science in Pain Management from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and a PGCVE from Royal Veterinary College, London. Dr. Dutton also holds certifications through the DABVP for Canine & Feline Practice, DABVP for Avian Practice, and DABVP for Exotic Companion Mammal Practice. Currently Dr. Dutton sees dogs, cats, and exotics at these practices on a full time basis. He and his staff volunteer their time and skills to the Concord Audubon, the Auburn Audubon, and local wildlife rehabilitators.Dr. Dutton spearheaded the creation of the Capital Area Veterinary Emergency Service (CAVES) in 2000. As CAVES grew, he completed the training and logistics to perform the radioactive iodine treatment (i-131) for cats and guinea pigs with hyperthyroidism. To that end he has successfully completed three AVMA approved Specialist Board certifications. He is one of less than 20 veterinarians in the United States to be triple boarded. Additionally he earned a Masters Degree in Pain Management from the College of Human and Veterinary Medicine, University of Edinburgh and a Post Graduate Certificate in Veterinary Education (so he can better teach and mentor younger veterinarians) from the Royal Veterinary College in London. He has lectured to veterinarians and Staff locally and nationally and teaches exotic classes at the Great Bay Community College. He volunteers his time as Exam Chairperson for the ABVP and serves on an AAHA committee identifying new leaders.His outside activities include mentoring youth via Explorer Post 24, a veterinary medicine co-ed program for ages 14 to 20, hiking, and reading. He is married to his wife of 30+ years and has 2 children. Currently the house also has 2 dogs and 2 cats.
