Dr. Barb Espe (Heart River Animal Hospital)

Veterinarian Overview

Barb Espe, DVM is a Bismarck native. She graduated from North Dakota State University with a BS in Zoology. She obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Iowa State University in 1989. Dr. Espe practiced in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area before moving back to Bismarck in 1995 to start a house call practice and to be closer to family. Dr. Espe joined Heart River Animal Hospital in 2007. Dr. Espe has several pets, including an adorable pug named “Teagan Violet Cherry Blossom”. She is the happiest little ball of enthusiasm you ever did meet. Dr. Espe also has a green thumb for flowers and vegetables and enjoys spending time hiking and walking with her critters. Her other passion is being the World’s Best Auntie to her adorable nephews and nieces.
