Veterinarian Overview
Having grown up surrounded by horses, cats, dogs, rescued rabbits, and even a rescued duck, Dr. Chessie Green always wanted to become a veterinarian and never wavered from her dream. Her mothers nurturing side and her fathers practical medical knowledge afforded Dr. Green the perfect combination of skillsnow shes a full-time veterinarian and the co-owner of Falls Village Veterinary Hospital! Originally from Statesville, North Carolina, Dr. Green attended Randolph-Macon Womans College in Lynchburg, Virginia for her undergraduate studies. During this time, she was lucky enough to spend a year studying abroad at the University of Reading and Oxford University in the United Kingdom. She then attended North Carolina State Universitys College of Veterinary Medicine to receive her DVM degree, graduating in 1996. Dr. Green joined Falls Village Veterinary Hospitals team shortly after veterinary school upon being referred here by a good friend of hers. Medically, shes particularly passionate about dentistry and loves making a pet feel better after a good dental cleaning. Above all, though, Dr. Green enjoys working closely with clients to find the best solutions for them and their beloved pets. In addition to her duties here at the hospital, Dr. Green is quite active in the local veterinary community. She sits on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Foundation for North Carolina State Universitys veterinary school. Previously, she was the Medical Director for Operation Catnipa feline spay-and-neuter programfor 10 years, and also served on the board of the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association for 13 years, including a 1 year term as the President (2011-2012). Dr. Green is also the founding President of the Friends of the NCVMA, which sponsors scholarships for veterinary students in the state. When she has time between her many obligations as a practice owner, veterinarian, and community volunteer, Dr. Green enjoys gardening, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her own pets. She has three cats named Teeny, Lulu, and Linus, as well as a rescued hound mix, Woody, who is the cover model for Falls Village Veterinary Hospitals clinic brochure.
