Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Katie H. Willis graduated from North Carolina State University in 2005 with a B.S. in Poultry Science and the University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. She began her career in Greenville, NC, serving as a mixed animal veterinarian for two and half years, as well as overseeing shelter veterinary programs in Pitt County. In January of 2012, she joined Morehead Animal Hospital. Dr. Willis professional veterinary interests include canine and feline internal medicine (specifically gastrointestinal and cardiac diseases), behavior science, pain management and hospice care. With this specific interest in internal medicine, she is excited to expand patient care with ultrasound technology. Dr. Willis is USDA accredited, which entails specific training in zoonotic diseases and veterinary biosecurity measures. In addition to individual patient care, Dr. Willis also has interest in herd health medicine and has participated with veterinary-oriented mission trips with Christian Veterinary Mission. She is also involved with Marine Mammal Stranding Network in Carteret County. When away from the hospital, Dr. Willis enjoys spending her time with her family (daughter McKenzie,son Jim and husband Nathan),relaxing at the beach, reading and traveling to her family farm. Her furry children includes two dogs; Fallon and L.D.
