Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Owen received his DVM in 1987 from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. He has nearly three decades of emergency, critical care and surgical and general practice in Western Carolina, including six years in Madison County, where he owned a large and small animal clinic. Prior to his tenure in WNC, he was an emergency veterinarian in Greenville and Spartanburg, SC. During that time he also taught biology and anatomy as an adjunct instructor at Spartanburg Community College. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society. During his off hours, Dr. Owen plays fiddle and guitar in the contra dance band Local Produce, pursues an avid interest in Appalachian fiddle music, and is a whitewater kayaking enthusiast. Ted and his wife, Lyn, also enjoy doing Endurance Races on their pinto Arabians and pleasure riding and camping all over the United States. They live in Hendersonville, NC.
