Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Dan Nordland, the practice owner of Yadkin Park Animal Hospital in Southen Pines, NC., received bachelor degrees in Animal Husbandry and Dairy Husbandry from Delaware Valley College of Science and Agriculture in Doylestown, Pa. in 1979. He then came to North Carolina and worked in the swine industry for N.G. Purvis Farms in northern Moore County for 9 years. During that time he married and had 3 children, Jo Anna, Joshua and Tommy. In 1988 he began his veterinary training at NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine. He received multiple honors and scholarships during his years in veterinary school including induction into the exclusive honor societies of Phi Zeta and Phi Kappa Phi. He graduated in 1992 with the highest grade point average in the class of 1992 and multiple offers to work as a veterinarian in the swine industry. _Dr. Nordland chose to move back to Moore County after veterinary school and go into small animal medicine due to his love for his own pets, and the satisfaction he derived from giving individualized care to these loving pets. He was hired as an associate veterinarian at Yadkin Park Animal Hospital in July of 1992. In 1994 he purchased 1/3 ownership in the practice. In 1995 he purchased a second 1/3 interest. Then, in 2007 he purchased the final 1/3 interest and became the sole owner. Veterinarians Veterinary Staff at Yadkin Park Animal Hospital & Dental Clinic in Southern Pines NC Dr. Nordland loves what he does in all respects, but his favorite areas of medicine include orthopedic surgery, soft-tissue surgery and cancer chemotherapy. He regularly does hip, knee and elbow surgeries. His chemotherapy areas of expertise include mast cell tumors, lymphosarcoma, skin tumors in general and many more. He also enjoys endoscopy when it is needed. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association. _Dr. Nordland lives with his wife, Terry and their 3 dogs, Carly(boxer), Rubie(beagle), and Lilie(walker hound) in West End. He enjoys hunting and fishing, motorcycle riding, blues music, throwing boomerangs, working out at the gym and has just begun playing the guitar.
