Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Debra Givin is a graduate of the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine and has been practicing in Maine since 1982. She is a member ofThe American Veterinary Medical AssociationAVMA.orgThe American Association of Feline PractitionersCatVets.comThe Maine Veterinary Medical AssociationMaineVetMed.orgDr. Givin designed the logo for The Cat Doctor and then started this feline exclusive practice in 1988. Appreciation for this wonderful species has continued to grow over the years. Her current interests include feline temperament types, environmental enrichment, prevention of obesity, and finally the restoration of cats to the god-like status they held in ancient Egypt.Dr. Givin has received instruction in the subtle art of Feline communication from Quicken, Bradlee, Fergie, Cat Baleau, William and Walter. Quicken and Fergie passed in 2010. Bradlee passed in 2013. Cat Baleau has moved to the clinic in hopes of getting a lot of petting and admiration to fill his golden years. William and Walter (she still thinks of them as the "kittens") keep Debra and Keith on schedule and well disciplined.Debra enjoys sea kayaking, golf, cross country skiing, watercolor painting, the tarot, tatting, photography, knitting, needle felting and sewing period correct 1860's clothing. And she loves her kitties.
