Veterinarian Overview
Julia Lucas, DVM joined us in 2014. Dr. Lucas graduated from Veterinary College at Murdoch University in Perth Australia in 1993. Her first love and passion is patient care, Dr. Lucas says, My favorite part of any day is a wagging tail or contented purr heading out of the clinic door.Dr. Lucas has Masters and PhD degrees, researching cancer in animals. She also has published numerous scientific papers and presented her work at national and international conferences. Her research has been recognized by her peers, being awarded the American College of Veterinary Pathologists Young Investigator award in 2006 and 2007. She is also a Diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists, which supports her interests in oncology, dermatology and endocrinology.She has lived throughout Australia and the United States, as well as traveled extensively in Asia, the Pacific and North America. However, with a growing family of 4 kids, 3 cats, 2 dogs a half dozen chickens and an ever changing assortment of little critters, she and her husband started looking for a place to settle down. They were lured by Maines natural beauty and laid back lifestyle to the Portland area in 2010. Dr. Lucas says, I love the seasons in New England, our family spends so much time outdoors. We canoe and hike in the fall and spring, sled and snowshoe in the winter and swim or surf in the summer.
