Veterinarian Overview
Dr. M. Maria Spruill, DVMDr. Maria Spruill grew up in a suburb of Tokyo with lots of little creatures and furry and feathery friends. When she was 17, she left Tokyo and came to the United States to attend West Virginia University. After graduating from West Virginia University with a BS degree in pre-veterinary sciences, she went on to Iowa State University and obtained a PhD degree in Animal Science. Even through her successful years as a researcher in neurology, she never took her eyes off her dream to become a veterinarian. She also fell in love with Charm City when she was working at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and decided to stay in the Baltimore-DC Metro region. She obtained her veterinary degree from Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006, and has worked at several hospitals in the DC area before joining Norbeck Animal Clinic. She is a member of American Association of Feline Practitioners, and her strengths and professional interests include feline medicine, client education, pain management, and geriatric medicine/end-of-life care. She is happily married to a perfect husband and they reside in beautiful Southern Maryland with three feline children; Snedeker, Miss Milo and Sherman. In her spare time she enjoys, fitness, hiking, camping/traveling, cooking, ballroom dancing, bird watching, oil painting, music and spending time with her husband, family and friends.
