Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Pema Choepel Mallu has practiced veterinary medicine since graduating from the Ohio State University in 1977. Since becoming certified through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society in 1988, she practices Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture, and Chinese Herbology. In the 1980s, Dr. Pema also completed extensive training in Energy healing. In December 2010, she completed a three year Masters degree in human Acupuncture from Tai Sophia Institute. Dr. Pema is now a licensed human acupuncturist practicing in Germantown, MD. Dr. Pema focuses on internal medicine problems such as Cushings disease, Kidney disease, Gastro-intestinal disease or Allergies. Dr. Pema is an ordained Tibetan Buddhist nun and as such lives life with the notion that all creatures are created equal. Her life is dedicated to the relief of suffering. She lives in her home in Germantown with two other nuns, Ani Megan and Ani Lucia, their two Peke-A-Poos, Oilver and Serena, her Chow x Pomeranian Janelle, their Yorkie Gwenie and two African Grey parrots, Oscar and Nimh. In addition, Dr. Pema serves as the volunteer veterinarian for the Buddhists no kill dog rescue sanctuary, www.tarasbabies.org and volunteers for the parrot sanctuary, www.garudaaviary.org.
