Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Schumacher is a Kansas City native, but considers both Des Moines and Kansas City home. She is a proud Cyclone and received her undergraduate degree from Iowa State University before graduating as a Tiger from University of Missouri-Columbia College of Veterinary Medicine. While veterinary medicine is a large and diverse field, Dr. Schumacher finds medicine, behavior, and clinical pathology the most intriguing- particularly if it involves cats. However, the most fulfilling part of the day is getting to know and build relationships with clients and pets, becoming a partner in their care. Dr. Schumacher is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Schumacher and her husband have 4 pets - Layla, an overly smart Border Collie mix, Captain a goofy Standard Poodle, Pepper a bossy Main Coon that runs the house, and Merlin a Bengal who can't decide if he's a cat or dog. Dr. Schumacher enjoys spending her free time hiking and running with Captain, playing violin, exploring and experiencing Kansas City, and cheering on the Kansas City sports teams. (Go Royals!).
