Veterinarian Overview
In September of 2013, Dr. Smith joined the practice at Arbor Creek Animal Hospital. She graduated from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1984 and has been a practicing veterinarian ever since. She has been involved in many aspects of veterinary medicine over the years, and has enjoyed learning from patients, clients, colleagues, and respected mentors. She became a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist in 2011 at Colorado State University, and has seen the benefits of adding acupuncture to her pain management protocol. She is especially interested in relieving chronic pain in our older pets using a combination of medication (both traditional and herbal), acupuncture, laser therapy, supplements, and diets. The profession of veterinary medicine has changed so dramatically over the years with improved medicine, surgery, preventative medicine, the huge growth and acceptance of alternative methods of therapy, and it has opened up a wide avenue of options to improve both the length and the quality of life for our four-legged friends that they deserve. Arbor Creek Animal Hospital has the perfect blend of traditional and alternative veterinary practice, and we work together as a team to come up with a plan to help your pet live longer, healthier and more pain-free lives. Dr. Smith has two grown children, Emma and Grant, and is married to David, a Physical Therapy Assistant with Aegis. They share a love of music, travel, food and movies, and of course, their 4 year old Chihuahua, Ollie.
