Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Park grew up surrounded by animals. As a young boy, he befriended a feral tom cat that eventually adopted his family and protected their dog. He also would help out at his uncles farm every summer and tended to the dairy cows and hogs. His family dog Princess made a large impact on his life as well. They were best friends, she would knock him down and lick him to death then would, without warning, dart after a squirrel, dragging him helplessly behind her as he hung on for dear life. Along the way, he became interested in medicine and in the idea of playing detective- that is, trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together in order to solve the mystery. It was a logical outcome to pursue a career in veterinary medicine with small animals as his focus.Dr. Park graduated from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1986 and joined SAVC in December 2000. His areas of special interest are cytology, dermatology and ophthalmology. Dr. Parks wife, Terri, is a counselor at a local elementary school. They have a son, Brandon, and a daughter, Madison. The Park family pets include Cassie the sheltie, Molly the yorkie and Midnight the poodle. In his spare time, Dr. Park enjoys traveling, movies and gardening
