Veterinarian Overview
Biography: Dr. Megan Vercaigne graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, Ontario in 2013. She spent many years in Guelph (west of Toronto) while completing her Biology degree at the University of Guelph. Dr. Vercaigne wanted to be a veterinarian since she was very young, which she can attribute to growing up on a small farm near Barrie, Ontario, where she spent most of her free time with chickens, pigs, goats, and fostering shelter cats. While at veterinary school, Dr. Vercaigne travelled to East Africa where she was lucky enough to participate in a spay/neuter program and a study of large predators, including lions and hyenas. After obtaining her veterinary degree, she worked at a clinic treating cats and dogs in Hamilton, Ontario before moving to Bloomington this year (2015). Dr. Vercaigne has developed a special interest in general surgery and pain management, but enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine. Dr. Vercaigne believes the human-animal bond is one of the greatest gifts, and finds it a privilege to help owners and pets live long, happy and healthy lives together. During her free time Dr. Vercaigne loves to hike with her husband and two rescue dogs. She also likes to spend time gardening, painting, biking, and watching movies with her two cats
