Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Finks is a Kankakee native and graduated from University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. She worked in Chicago as a small animal veterinarian until she decided to return to school to pursue a degree in public health. She graduated from Texas A &M University in 2006 with her Masters of Veterinary Public Health. From 2007-2009, she worked as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and then, in 2009, began working with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on epidemiology of healthcare-associated infections and multi-drug resistant organisms. Although she loved her work, Dr. Finks decided it was time for her to move back home and be closer to family. She returned to the Kankakee area and joined the VCA County West family in October 2016. She is currently a member of the AVMA and ISV MA. She shares her home with her 2 daughters: Mary and Kenna Grace; 3 cats: Sam, Fern and sneakers; 2 parakeets: George and Murray; and their Beagle, Augie Doggie.
