Matthew L. Baron-Chapman, DVM, Diplomate ACVR is a board-certified Veterinary Radiologist at MedVet Cincinnati and MedVet Dayton where he has been part of the radiology team since 2013. Dr. Baron-Chapman attended the University of Notre Dame where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree and Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine where he earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Following his graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Baron-Chapman completed a yearlong internship in small animal medicine and surgery, as well as a three-year residency in radiology at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine.Dr. Baron-Champman received the American College of Veterinary Radiology (ACVR) Resident Research Grant award to fund his research on “Ultrasonographic Observation of Secretin-Induced Pancreatic Duct Dilation in Healthy Cats.” This research helped to develop new procedures that would enhance the ability to diagnose feline pancreatitis and earned him the Resident Manuscript Publication Award. During his residency, Dr. Baron-Chapman gained experience imaging exotic animals such as lions and tigers through his work with local zoos and big cat rescue groups.After becoming a board-certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Radiology, Dr. Baron-Chapman worked as a staff radiologist at VCA Veterinary Referral Associates in Gaithersburg, MD prior to joining MedVet. Dr. Baron-Chapman is the author and co-author of scientific articles published in a variety of veterinary publications including Veterinary Ophthalmology, Veterinary Radiology and Ultrasound, Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the BSAVA Manual of Canine and Feline Ultrasonography. He is also an active advocate of continued education for veterinary professionals and has lectured on various veterinary radiology topics at local and national conferences to veterinary students, interns, residents, and colleagues.Dr. Baron-Chapman maintains an interest in all aspects of small animal radiology with particular interest in cervical and abdominal ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the central nervous system. When not treating patients, Dr. Baron-Chapman enjoys basketball, hiking, scuba diving, reading, and is an avid college football fan.
