Veterinarian Overview
Katrina Castaneda, DVM is a veterinarian and Surgery Resident at MedVet Columbus where she has been part of the medical team since 2015. Dr. Castaneda attended the University of California, Davis where she earned both a Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees. Following her graduation from veterinary school, she completed a yearlong internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Veterinary Medical & Surgical Group, Ventura, California and is currently completing a three-year residency program in small animal surgery at MedVet Columbus. In 2012, she was awarded the Association of Multicultural Veterinarians Award and the Dr. Jack Walther Leadership Award.While completing her residency, Dr. Castaneda enjoys participating in research projects to advance the field of veterinary medicine. While she enjoys all aspects of surgery, she has particular interests in minimally invasive, orthopedic, and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Castaneda has provided veterinary services to communities across the world including Costa Rica and Panama. She has also supported veterinary needs for Native American Reservations across the United States. When not treating patients, Dr. Castaneda enjoys outdoor activities including hiking, kayaking, and paddle boarding with her corgi, Silva.
