Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Rachel is originally from the suburbs of Chicago, IL but relocated and finished out high school in southeast Tennessee. She then went on to Erskine College in South Carolina where she obtained her BS in biology, summa cum laude, and was named an All-American Scholar Athlete and a Rhode's Scholar nominee. She then pursued and obtained her DVM at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine as the salutatorian. Dr. Rachel has always taken a special interest in exotics and was fortunate enough to participate in rhino conservation and lion research efforts in South Africa during vet school. Since then, she has pursued training in medicine and care for all exotics, pocket pets, reptiles, avians, and wildlife. Dr. Rachel also takes special interest in internal medicine, preventative care, senior care, and prides herself in a deep compassion for client education and the human-animal bond. She resides in Buford with her husband, Don, two rambunctious boys, Dutch and Eli, 2 dachshunds, 1 cat, a moon crab, and a spoiled Russian tortoise she rescued. In what spare time she has, Dr. Rachel enjoys the outdoors, landscaping, home improvement, fishing, college football, and getting back to the mountains of Tennessee.
