Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Matthew Freeborg grew up loving nature and animals and was fortunate to nurture his passion for creatures in a variety of interesting ways. His very first job placed him at an animal education center for children and in high school he volunteered in field research expeditions. These adventures introduced him to working with cheetahs, leatherback sea turtles, maned wolves, jaguars, and dusky dolphins in Namibia, Brazil, St. Croix and New Zealand. Dr. Freeborg received his bachelors degree in marine science from Eckerd College and then pursued and received his Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery from the University of Glasgow School of Veterinary Medicine. He joined our staff in August 2013. While in veterinary school, Dr. Freeborg was able to gain hands-on experience in a variety of veterinary fields, ranging from lambing in Scotland and doing field veterinary work on African wildlife. He also satisfied his desire to volunteer by participating with various organizations such as Riding for the Disabled, Fort Waynes Children Zoo and the Loggerhead Marinelife Center. He also worked as an extern with our veterinarians at Partridge Animal Hospital. Dr. Freeborg is a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and the American Veterinary Medical Association. His professional interests include veterinary dentistry and wildlife medicine. In his free time, Dr. Freeborg enjoys spending time with his wife, four children, and their two catsGremlin and Tigger. He is dedicated to community service and and his faith; he is an active member of Holy Family, Catholic Church. He also enjoys hiking, traveling, camping and cooking with his family.
